The problem with most traditional approaches (self-help books, diets, etc.) is that they ignore a fundamental principle: you are naturally wired to stay the same. Your subconscious mind is running the show and it keeps you doing the same things over and over. Whether it is how you eat and exercise, how you relate to your spouse or boss, or how you deal with money issues, a lot of what you do today started out as subtle programming before you were 8 years old. Trying to simply force yourself, coax yourself, or diet yourself into a new pattern will take extraordinary willpower, require years of commitment and guess what? You’ll likely fall off the wagon anyway.
It’s ok, falling off the wagon is what you’re wired to do. The good news is that there are tools and approaches that can make creating new, healthy patterns of behavior easy.
